Fresh outdoor air
Lossnay draws fresh air directly from outside the home rather than taking air from the roof or attic space.

MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC LOSSNAY
Fresh air. Without throwing your comfort away.
Mitsubishi Electric Lossnay Fresh Air Heat Recovery Ventilation continuously introduces fresh, filtered outdoor air while removing stale indoor air and recovering energy from the outgoing air stream.
Designed as part of a properly engineered whole-home comfort system, Lossnay can work alongside Mitsubishi Electric ducted heating and cooling to deliver fresh air, temperature control and ventilation throughout the home.
INDOOR AIR QUALITY
As homes become better insulated and increasingly airtight, natural air leakage is reduced.
That is good for energy efficiency, but it also means moisture, odours and stale indoor air can remain trapped inside unless ventilation is properly considered.
Opening windows introduces fresh air, but it can also allow conditioned indoor air to escape. A purpose-designed mechanical ventilation system provides a controlled way to introduce outdoor air while removing stale indoor air.
COMFORT PHILOSOPHY
Heating controls temperature. Ventilation controls the air you live in. A complete comfort system should consider both.
Heat Pump Upgrade Co integrates Lossnay directly into system design so your Canterbury home gets temperature control and fresh air together.
HOW LOSSNAY WORKS
Lossnay is a balanced-pressure mechanical ventilation system with a patented heat-exchange core that transfers thermal energy between outgoing stale air and incoming fresh outdoor air.
Lossnay draws fresh air directly from outside the home rather than taking air from the roof or attic space.
Incoming outdoor air passes through the Lossnay filtration system before being supplied to the home.
Stale indoor air is extracted from the home rather than simply being circulated from room to room.
Before stale air is discharged outdoors, the Lossnay heat exchanger transfers energy between outgoing and incoming air streams.
Note: Lossnay provides ventilation with heat recovery. It is designed to work alongside active heating and cooling (such as a Mitsubishi Electric ducted heat pump) rather than replacing a heat pump.
SEE IT IN ACTION

THE LOSSNAY DIFFERENCE
Lossnay draws fresh air directly from outdoors rather than using stale roof-space or attic air.
Fresh air is supplied while stale indoor air is extracted simultaneously as part of a balanced mechanical system.
Energy from outgoing conditioned air is transferred through the Lossnay heat exchanger to the incoming fresh air stream.
Outdoor air passes through Lossnay filtration before being introduced into your living spaces.
Lossnay systems are engineered for unobtrusive operation when correctly designed, selected and installed.
Mechanical ventilation becomes increasingly important as homes become more airtight and uncontrolled air leakage decreases.
A DIFFERENT APPROACH
Lossnay introduces fresh air directly from outside the building. It does not rely on roof-space or attic air as the source of ventilation air.
Attic air can contain accumulated dust, dirt, insulation fibres, mould spores, and animal droppings. The lack of air movement in roof spaces means attic air is often stale and hard to filter effectively.
Drawing fresh air directly from outdoors allows the ventilation system to source clean air, filter it, recover energy, and distribute it cleanly through a properly designed system.
MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC LOSSNAY
Outside air → filtration → heat recovery → home
Direct outdoor fresh intake. Filtered and temperature-balanced before entering your living space.
CONVENTIONAL ATTIC-AIR VENTILATION
Roof-space air → home
Uses unsealed roof cavity air. Can carry dust, allergens and stale attic conditions into the home.
INTEGRATED WHOLE-HOME COMFORT
Rather than treating heating, cooling and ventilation as separate systems, Mitsubishi Electric Lossnay can be integrated with a ducted heat pump to create a complete whole-home comfort solution.

Heat Pump Upgrade Co can design the Mitsubishi Electric ducted heat pump, Lossnay fresh air ventilation and intelligent zone control together, creating a carefully engineered whole-home comfort solution designed around the home.

WHOLE-HOME COMFORT
Mitsubishi Electric Lossnay can be combined with a Mitsubishi Electric ducted heat pump to create a more complete whole-home comfort solution.
The ducted heat pump manages heating and cooling while Lossnay manages the introduction of fresh outdoor air and extraction of stale indoor air.
When these systems are considered together during the design process, airflow, ductwork, controls and ventilation can be engineered as part of one coordinated solution.
01 — HEATING
Whole-home warmth delivered discreetly through ceiling diffusers.
02 — COOLING
Even cooling and dehumidification across summer months.
03 — FRESH AIR
Continuous filtered fresh outdoor air with heat energy recovery.
04 — CONTROL
Intelligent zoning and Wi-Fi management from a single interface.
ENGINEERED VENTILATION
A premium ventilation system depends on how it is designed and installed. Airflow rates, duct sizing, intake and exhaust locations, supply-air positioning, extract locations, filtration, noise control, access for servicing and integration with heating and cooling all need to be considered.
Heat Pump Upgrade Co approaches Lossnay as part of the overall mechanical design of the home rather than simply adding a ventilation unit to the roof space.
Fresh air should be designed into the system — not added as an afterthought.
RANGE OVERVIEW
Designed for homes where a concealed ducted ventilation system can distribute fresh air to multiple areas through ceiling diffusers.
The Mitsubishi Electric vertical Lossnay range (VL-250 / VL-350 / VL-500) provides additional installation flexibility where a conventional horizontal in-roof installation may not be ideal, such as dedicated utility rooms.
Lossnay can be considered alongside a Mitsubishi Electric ducted heat pump when designing a complete heating, cooling and ventilation solution.
System selection, duct layout and model capacity are determined during Heat Pump Upgrade Co system design based on your home's layout and airflow calculations.
CONNECTED COMFORT
Compatible Mitsubishi Electric Lossnay systems can use optional Lossnay Wi-Fi Control (via compatible Wi-Fi Interface hardware MAC-588IF-E).
The Wi-Fi interface lets you see by how many degrees Lossnay is pre-warming or pre-cooling incoming fresh air in real time. In summer, you can monitor temperature reduction during Automatic Free Cooling mode.
The app also provides filter cleaning reminders to maintain cost-efficient operation and air quality.
WI-FI CONTROL CAPABILITIES
Available on compatible Lossnay models (including VL-250 / VL-350 / VL-500 Vertical, LGH-RVX-E-1 and LGH-RVS-E series) when fitted with a compatible Wi-Fi interface.
HEAT PUMP UPGRADE CO
Heat Pump Upgrade Co specialises in premium engineered Mitsubishi Electric ducted heat pumps and whole-home comfort solutions across Christchurch and Canterbury.
Rather than treating heating, cooling, ventilation and control as unrelated products, we consider how each component will work together within the home.
For projects incorporating Lossnay, this means considering the ventilation requirements alongside the ducted heat pump, airflow design, zoning and control strategy from the beginning.
One home. One mechanical design. One complete comfort solution.
