Heat Pump Replacement & Upgrades Christchurch

From replacing a single high-wall unit to upgrading an entire home to ducted whole-home comfort.

    Replacement & Upgrades

Is your current heat pump really doing the job?

Many Canterbury homes are heated by systems that were never properly designed for the space — or that have simply reached the end of their useful life. Replacing a heat pump is an opportunity to fix the underlying comfort problem, not just swap the box on the wall.

Heat Pump Upgrade Co specialises in replacing and upgrading existing heat pumps. We do more than swap the unit — we assess its sizing, placement, pipework, drainage and electrical supply. For ducted systems, we also review the existing ductwork before designing the upgrade.

    Common Signs

    Reasons homeowners upgrade

If any of these sound familiar, it may be time to look at a properly designed replacement or upgrade.

    • →Rooms that never reach temperature
    • →Excessive noise from older units
    • →Poor or uneven airflow
    • →High energy consumption
    • →Ageing or unreliable equipment
    • →Uneven temperatures across the home
    • →Several wall units cluttering the home
    • →Poorly designed existing ductwork
    • →Renovations or changing how the home is used
    • →Wanting true whole-home heating and cooling

    What We Replace & Upgrade

From single units to whole-home systems

    Replacement high-wall heat pumps

Replacing ageing or unreliable wall-mounted units with current Mitsubishi Electric models, correctly sized for the room.

    Replacement floor consoles

Upgrading older floor-mounted units with modern, efficient alternatives.

    Replacing older inefficient systems

Removing systems that cost more to run than they should and replacing them with properly sized equipment.

    Upgrading existing ducted systems

Replacing the indoor or outdoor unit of an existing ducted system — and reviewing the ductwork it connects to.

    Redesigning poor ductwork

Fixing airflow problems caused by undersized, poorly routed or badly supported ductwork from a previous installation.

Moving from wall units to ducted

Upgrading homes from several individual wall-mounted units to a single, discreet, whole-home ducted system.

    The Ductwork Review

We don't just connect a new unit to old ductwork

When replacing an existing ducted heat pump, we review the existing duct system rather than automatically connecting a new unit to poorly designed ductwork. In many cases, the duct design is what actually needs upgrading to deliver the comfort you expect.

    Another upgrade path

    Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about heat pump replacement

How long does a high-wall heat pump replacement take?→

A standard high-wall heat pump replacement usually takes a few hours.

What is included in my installation quote?→

Your quote includes everything required for the agreed installation, including old-system removal where applicable, electrical work, commissioning, controller setup and clean-up. All electrical work is carried out by a registered electrical contractor. The price changes only if you change the agreed specification.

Will you show me how to use the system?→

Yes. At handover, we give you a full explanation of how your system and controls work, including how to clean the filters. We also advise when your system is due for servicing.

What support is available after installation?→

If you have questions about your system, you can call Daniel directly. If he is unavailable, he will return your call as soon as he can. Our installations are backed by a five-year workmanship warranty.

Can you replace an existing ducted heat pump?→

Yes — and we also review the existing duct system rather than automatically connecting a new unit to poorly designed ductwork. In many cases upgrading the duct design is what actually fixes the comfort problem.

What brand of heat pump does Heat Pump Upgrade Co install?→

Mitsubishi Electric exclusively. We've chosen to specialise rather than offer numerous competing brands, so we can deliver deeper expertise and better long-term support.
